3:06 11-C Throwing when you have the advantage
11-A Guarding, then throwing (recommended rank: up to 1st Dan)
High throws are powerful, but they can be stopped by striking attacks, and are successful only if your opponent is completely defenseless, or guarding high.
Instead of rushing in for a throw, let’s start by blocking an attack, and throwing when your opponent is vulnerable.
11-B Recognizing guaranteed throw moves (Recommended rank: up to 1st Dan)
Here, we will practice recognizing guaranteed throw moves.
Your opponent will attack with some moves that are guaranteed throw moves, and some that are not.
After blocking the move, throw when you think you are guaranteed a throw, or a counterattack with a striking attack (such as 2+P) if you think you are not.
11-C Throwing when you have the advantage (Recommended rank: up to 1st Dan)
Many opponents tend to guard when they are at a disadvantage, such as right after getting hit by a striking attack.
During a match, trying a striking attack in a disadvantageous situation can result in taking a counterhit. Therefore, many opponents will guard when they are at a disadvantage.
You can use this opportunity to go for a high throw.
