Emily Hicks recounts her journey in the innovation space, from student to co-founder of a company
Emily Hicks, co-founder of FREDsense Technologies, chats with MindFuel CEO Cassy Weber about her innovation journey in the realm of synthetic biology. From her first days as a University of Calgary undergraduate with a strong interest in the biomedical sciences, through numerous iGEM competitions, Emily discusses the importance of collaboration and networking. She says that it was important for her and her colleagues to be able to work out ideas in a non-curricular environment. And she emphasizes the critical importance of diversity in the innovation space. "Real innovation happens," Hicks says, "when you have all sorts of different voices coming together."
