Part 1 - Battle on Whiteholm Bridge (No Commentary) | Triangle Strategy Debut Demo (Switch)
If you're familiar with my channel at all, you'd know that I LOVE Octopath Traveler. I love the art style, the characters, the world, the lore, the gameplay, EVERYTHING. In my opinion, it should've won Game of the Year in 2018. It is no exaggeration for me to say that I have been eagerly awaiting ArtDink's next project. Fast forward to 2021 and ArtDink has just announced their newest game: Project Triangle Strategy. Instead of an old school JRPG like Octopath Traveler, ArtDink opted for an isometric, turn-based strategy RPG. In fact, this game appears to be a spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics. However, much like with Octopath, they have released a Debut Demo for Triangle Strategy to give us an early taste of what's to come. So, let's take a look at it.
This video contains the entirety of Chapter 6 from the demo called "Remember Me". In this chapter, we complete the first battle of the demo "Battle on Whiteholm Bridge" and witness the aftermath. The consequences of the battle ultimately lead to a vote by your party as to what to do next. This decision affects which version of Chapter 7 is played and how the story unfolds.
The Triangle Strategy Debut Demo has us assuming the role of Serenoa, Lord of House Wolffort, and his party of retainers, friends, and advisors. The Demo contains Chapters 6 & 7 from the final game. Chapter 6 is the beginning of the game's second act where the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost launches an all-out invasion of the Kingdom of Glenbrook. The Crown City of Whiteholm falls in no time and we're tasked with escorting Prince Roland to safety after Crown Prince Frani is killed. After a sacrifice is made, the Wolffort party escapes with Roland, but the Aesfrosti army remains in close pursuit. The party must then make a tough choice which ultimately affects how the story continues and which version of Chapter 7 you'll play. As you progress through the ever changing story, the various NPCs in the game will react to the world around them through optional cutscenes. Some of these NPCs can be either future companions or bosses you will fight later. All in all, ArtDink is setting up a living world here and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out in the final release.
