Striving Writers - A System To Teach Writing - Author Interview
Teaching writing is tough. Often it just seems like a to-do in your lesson plan book.
You need a manageable and effective system. Drum roll please… Introducing “Striving Writers.” This book (actually it’s more than a book…it’s a system) is a game-changer for teaching writing. It introduces a system that makes the process easier and more manageable. It provides entry points for incorporating writing into daily activities and offers targeted activities and lessons to scaffold students' writing skills. The best part is that it can be used with any curriculum and is adaptable to different grade levels. Students are actively involved in goal setting and celebrating their writing achievements. The book also includes assessments, rubrics, and easy to access resources for teachers. It even integrates writing into other content areas for holistic learning. I hope today’s interview with two of the authors, Ashlie Buresh and Justine Alberts gives you a taste of what writing could look like in your classroom.
