Mass Effect - How to Save Wrex on Virmire (All Ways to Save Wrex)
In this video I'm going to show you how to save Wrex during the Virmire mission in Mass Effect 1.
During the mission on Virmire, a Salarian commander reveals that Saren has constructed a breeding facility and has a cure for the genophage that will allow him to build a Krogan army. Shepard and the team make it their mission to destroy the facility to stop Saren.
Wrex is very upset that Shepard plans to destroy the genophage cure, as it has been a great pain for his people. Ashley will prompt Shepard to talk to Wrex.
During this confrontation, Wrex pulls a gun on Shepard. You must proceed carefully from here in order to keep Wrex alive.
If you don't pass a speech check, or do Wrex's family armor mission prior to Virmire, then either Shepard or Ashley Williams will shoot Wrex and he'll die.
If Wrex dies in Mass Effect 1, he is replaced by his brother Wreav in Mass Effect 2 and 3. Wreav is a more aggressive, war-mongering character, and kind of an all-around jagoff.
So the two ways to keep Wrex alive are:
1) Have 8 points in either charm or intimidate and choose the red (renegade) or blue (paragon) dialogue option
2) Complete Wrex's personal loyalty mission to retrieve his family armor from Turian artifact dealers.
You can unlock Wrex's mission by talking to him after each main story mission and asking about his family.
