In this video, what is Wired AND Logic and how this Wired AND Logic is implemented in the digital circuits, is explained using the example of open drain logic gates.
What is Wired AND Logic?
When the open collector or the open drain logic gate outputs are connected together using the pull-up resistor, then the wired output functions as Logic AND gate.
That means if the output of all the logic gates are HIGH or logic '1' then only, the wired output will be logic '1'. But if any one or more outputs of the logic gates are LOW or logic '0', then the wired output will be logic '0'.
This wired AND logic works only with the open collector or open drain logic gates.
Apart from digital circuits, this wired AND logic is also used in many communication protocols (e.g I2C and CAN bus protocols)
In this video, through the example of open drain logic gates, the working of Wired AND logic is explained.
