More Coastal Showers Sunday, Increasing Rain Chances Next Week: Saturday Evening Forecast 9/7/2024
After a gloomy Saturday, we will see a few more breaks in the clouds Sunday bringing slightly warmer conditions. A few coastal showers are possible into tonight, and lows will drop into the upper-60’s and low-70’s. More isolated showers mainly east of I-65 and south of I-10 are possible Sunday. Highs will push into the low- to mid-80’s. For Monday and Tuesday, we will have slightly higher chances for isolated showers and a few storms mainly in our coastal counties as a front stays stalled offshore. Rip current risk will be low this weekend, but it will be back to moderate by Monday and HIGH by Wednesday. This will be due to a developing tropical low in the western Gulf interacting with a frontal boundary bringing increased winds out of the east. Deep tropical moisture will push into the area for the back half of the week bringing more significant rain chances. Highs will stay below average over the entire next week in the low- to mid-80’s. In the tropics, we are tracking three areas. One is expected to move into the Bay of Campeche and has a high chance of development over the next week. It will interact with the frontal boundary in the Gulf, and it could become a depression next week. The current model guidance keeps this system in the westernmost portions of the Gulf tracking it towards TX/LA. Tropical moisture will be drawn into the News 5 area. The next name is Francine. Two more areas are in the central and eastern Atlantic and do not pose a threat to the News 5 area. The area in the central Atlantic has a medium chance of formation over the next seven days, and the area in the eastern Atlantic has a low chance of development.
