Meteorologist Grant Skinner gives an update on the tropical activity in the Atlantic Basin. The News 5 First Alert Storm Team is tracking three areas. One is expected to move into the Bay of Campeche and has a high chance of development over the next week. It will interact with the frontal boundary in the Gulf, and it could become a depression next week. The current model guidance keeps this system in the westernmost portions of the Gulf tracking it towards TX/LA. Tropical moisture will be drawn into the News 5 area. The next name is Francine. Two more areas are in the central and eastern Atlantic and do not pose a threat to the News 5 area. The area in the central Atlantic has a medium chance of formation over the next seven days, and the area in the eastern Atlantic also has a medium chance of development.
