In this tutorial, we’re discussing the similarities and differences between a one-to-many and many-to-one relationship in Adalo, a no code app builder.
Relational data refers to the type of relationship that is used to group and sort data & in the case of one-to-many and many-to-one, it refers to when one collection item can belong to many collection items in a different collection.
Let’s look at several examples of many-to-one or one-to-many relationships.
A single teacher can have many students, but each student only has one teacher.
A single post (think Facebook, Instagram, etc.) can have many comments, but each comment only belongs to one post.
A single post belongs to one user, but each user can write many posts.
In each of these examples, you can see how on one side of the relationship, the item is “single,” and on the other side, there is some sort of “many.”
Setting up your relationship properties properly is important to help maintain clean and organized data, and also to ensure your data is available at the appropriate time in your app.
In this video we cover a range of topics including how to determine which property type was used, how to think about setting up relationships, where to edit data in Adalo’s relational database, and more.
