One of the most pristine lakes on the planet is Crater Lake, the premier National Park in the state of Oregon. The water is so blue, it's the deepest lake in America at 1,943ft (592m), and the cleanest and clearest large body of water in the world.
The lake was formed by the destructive eruption of Mount Mazama almost 8 thousand years ago. The summit of the volcano collapsed and created a caldera. Over centuries, the caldera filled with rainwater and snow creating the iconic lake we see today.
In this video, We take you through our 2 day visit to Crater Lake. For anyone interested in visiting, let the video highlights give you sample ideas on what to expect, see, and fun activities to do at this Oregon’s awe-inspiring landmark. There's plenty of activities for you to choose from and things to do to keep the family entertained at Crater Lake National Park. Hiking, biking, running, and driving the 33-mile scenic byway called Rim Drive are fantastic ways to see the lake. Crater Lake has 90 miles of hiking trails to fit every level of trekker. There are more than 30 overlooks offering striking panoramas and roadside exhibits. Swimming can only be done from the rocky shore of Cleetwood Cove and be sure to sign up for a boat tour, which will treat you to unique perspective views of the lake.
Crater Lake can be done in 1 day, but 2 days would give more chances to hike and relax. Those whose travel plans allow for longer stays will benefit from seeing sites that are more off the beaten path.
