"Dance of the Violins" (Extreme Demon) by DrayTM, FunnyGame, Cyclic & more | Geometry Dash 2.11
This is quite an interesting project considering the creators involved. It's a very old project that was recently finished, verified, and released. I can't seem to find an exact date of when this was started, but it's surely something like 8 years ago considering it's got old FunnyGame and Cyclic. DrayTM seems to have been behind finishing it up, and they also recorded this video, so special thanks to them for reaching out about showcasing this.
The level's history explains a lot in terms of visuals. Some parts definitely haven't aged too well, featuring an overdetailed, monochrome design style with somewhat random gameplay. Aside from WOOGI1411, I don't think too many creators got close to perfecting this short-lived style (compared to the game's lifespan). However, these parts do have some charm to me simply because of the nostalgia, and I'm curious to see what you guys think in the comments. That's a big reason why I think this is worth showcasing. Not all parts are this way either, with 0:58, for example, looking quite good for today's standards. The walls on the sides and accurately timed color pulses work very well. These color pulses switch between completely different colors, which is something that could've improved earlier parts of the level. The violins as walls in the next part, however, aren't as good to me; the art doesn't really fit the rest of the level and they cover a bit too much of the screen.
Judging by the verifier's thoughts, WatchPiggy, the balancing of the gameplay isn't too good. The first half is the hardest, which I could've guessed from how tight some parts are, such as the Wave at 0:15 and what I commented on earlier ("somewhat random gameplay" due to various invisible portals). How hard it is exactly is unknown, but we'll see if more people try it out. I could see skilled people who have a special interest in oldschool creators and levels in general try it. All in all, I think this deserves a Rated Extreme Demon rating. It's nice to see old projects like this finished up despite how many years later it happened.
