"I See Stars EX" by Serponge, meeloz, melX0exe & Thomartin | Geometry Dash 2.2
I can't remember seeing any levels I've uploaded get a follow-up this quick before, so this may be a first. The reason for the fast release is that Serponge was supposed to be a part of the original "I See Stars", but didn't finish in time, so his section is added on from 1:35 in this (as a new level release). The final parts from the original are included before that. However, the visuals are changed a bit to avoid being reused completely. As such, the original level and this combine nicely as a small series to be played in order.
Overall, I have to say that I prefer the original a bit due to the consistent gameplay and visuals that lasted for over 3 minutes. The progression was also really nice. However, it did end off a bit suddenly at another climax of the song, which is where the brand new section starts. It would definitely have been interesting to see people's thoughts on this being at the end of the original version. In terms of colors and details, it does fit in thematically, but it's much more flashy than the original's earlier parts, which were a lot more toned down. The gameplay is also crazier due to the rotation of the entire part. This could potentially have made the end a bit frustrating to play for some, while also not fitting in as well. With only a minute or so of gameplay before the part in this version, as well as improved visuals, it works fine here at least. Since this reuses a decent amount from the original, it will be interesting to see what RobTop rates it. I could see it getting Featured or Epic personally, depending on how much he weighs the changes. As for difficulty, I'd say 9 Stars works well.
