I Played The META QUEST 3... Here's What I Thought!

During my first Quest 3 gameplay session I was immediately impressed by the comfort, build quality, visual fidelity and mixed reality applications, it's clear even from this short play session that Meta are doubling down on making this the first true commercial focused MR device rather than just a VR centric one. The passthrough, even in the poorly lit room I was playing in, was exceptional and far better than anything we've seen on Quest 2 or even Quest Pro, with decent colours, a great sense of depth and exceptionally sharp, vibrant visuals when it came to the MR elements bursting into your real world location. The Quest 3 is a slimmer, sleeker and more powerful headset than the Quest 2 or Pro and the differences were immediately noticeable in Red Matter 2, a game that has been fully enhanced to take advantage of the new tech. It was an experience that looked exceptionally close to PC VR or PSVR2 quality, with dynamic shadows and incredibly impressive lighting for a standalone device. The Quest 3 is gearing up to be the best VR headset that Meta have made to date and one that finally feels ready to tackle MR/AR applications in an impressive way, here's hoping there's enough exciting new content to really make this one a success.
