Move Quickly to the Cloud with Native Nutanix Files | Tech Bytes | Nutanix University
The software-defined architecture of Nutanix Files lets you run it on compatible third-party infrastructure or Nutanix infrastructure with Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2), Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), or as a standalone Nutanix Unified Storage cluster. AWS provides scalable infrastructure for your public cloud, and Prism Central (PC) running in your Nutanix cluster provides the Nutanix Files control plane.
Files on the cloud uses AWS storage rather than Nutanix-backed volume groups (VGs) to back file server VMs (FSVMs). In addition, aggressive Smart Tiering for Files on the cloud saves costs by leveraging AWS S3 as the capacity tier.
