Refining a rather thickly potted store jar with a substantial, overhanging lid. This is moment I long for when creating pottery, trimming clay at this perfect leather hard state, the curls of clay spiralling away, the sharp tungsten blades slicing away long ribbons of clay.
Each component acting like a chuck for the other helps streamline this process. In a way, it’s why I’ve adopted this style of lid for practically all of the pots I create, it’s become one of the most recognisable aspects to my work, although in this instance the lid slightly too thick—sometimes when watching these videos back, and scrolling through old footage, I spot things that had I been making the same pot now, I’d change.
