Prostaglandins: maintain renal blood flow via vasodilation of afferent arterioles
Dopamine: cells of the proximal convoluted tubules secrete dopamine → helps maintain renal blood flow via vasodilation of interlobular arteries, afferent arterioles, and efferent arterioles
Participate in gluconeogenesis (glutamine and glutamate) and ketogenesis
