It's 1981 and, in the Oxfordshire countryside, BBC producer John Paling discovers a baby grey squirrel abandoned by its mother.
Determined to help, John brings him home, where the tiny creature is adopted by John's cat, Beauty. He is dubbed Sammy Squitten, causes chaos and destruction, and leaves John with one or two scars.
But when the time comes to release him, John wonders if he is doing the right thing. Can Sammy make it on his own in the outside world?
Narrated by David Attenborough and John himself.
