This tutorial shows a simple example of how non-linear plastic deformation can be modelled using the solid mechanics physics interface. The applied force is gradually increased to a maximum and then reduced to zero. The resulting stress-strain curve is hysteretic due to permanent plastic deformation. The slope of the stress-strain curve when unloading is equal to the slope of the curve in the initial elastic region.
