Panasonic HDC-SD1 - the first HD camcorder to record onto SD cards
Does an 18-year old camcorder stand a chance against modern digital cameras? The Panasonic HDC-SD1 was released in 2006, it recorded HD video in AVCHD format and became the first HD camcorder to record on SD memory cards.
Until mid-2006, SD cards were limited to 2GB, but the specification was amended in the early 2006 to allow higher capacities. 4GB SDHC cards launched by the end of 2006, priced around $200.
