Denver Health Orthopedic Experts Help "Hesty" the Orangutan
This isn't a typical patient story coming from a health care system that takes care of humans.
The @DenverZooConservationAlliance called on Denver Health's world-renowned Orthopedics experts to help out with surgery on an orangutan named "Hesty" who was injured in a scuffle with some family members, causing injuries to her feet and hands. The primate's injuries involved some nerve damage, which Denver Health Orthopedic surgeons specialize in fixing in humans.
Because an orangutan has hands that are so similar to a human hand, Denver Health's surgeons were able to come in and help Denver Zoo veterinarians with the injuries.
