Francisco Herrera Retro Box sketchbooks: stylised art & cartoons motivation
Francisco Herrera's latest sketchbook project, Retro Box! This was originally a Kickstarter campaign, but these occasionally come up online in other places. Francisco also has a sketchbook named 'Magic Box' and his older sketchbooks, sketchbox ( which are amazing by the way!, links below). I would describe Francisco Herrera's style as extremely stylised and exagerated, reminiscent of the Loony Toons cartoons. That being said, you can see throughout the book a full range of rendering styles, sketches, comic book pannels and products like toys, all of which seem very good quality. I find these types of style very interesting and fun compared to the more realistic style (personal preference of course!) and also very inspiring for developing my own work. Francisco's style also reminds me a lot of some of Humberto Ramo's art work, I will link some of his sketchbooks below. What do you guys think?
