On my Mac, Photoshop was displaying the wrong size cursor for brush tools and erasers. So the edge of the circle is not the same as the place where the brush or eraser actually work. The painting or erasing was always in a smaller area inside the circle.
The fix was easy - once I found it. So I'm sharing it in video format here for those following in my footsteps.
This is NOT the fix where you change from a cross-hair to a circle by turning off caps lock. This is a different problem. And it's fixed by changing the settings on your Mac System.
In Accessibility: Displays, you must set the cursor size to "normal."
This is probably only a problem with "older" users as we are more likely to change the cursor size in the system.
