The band OMD — Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark — helped define the electronic pop sound of the 1980s. Their catchy, danceable and substantial electronic music blend is built on melody and melancholia, created with keyboards, synths, sexy saxophone and drums. OMD reformed just over a decade ago and picked up where they left off — and they have a new record, "The Punishment of Luxury," which is out on Sept.1, 2017.

The two founding members, Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, joined us live in the studio. You can hear the full in-studio performance and conversation on the Soundcheck podcast: http://www.wnyc.org/story/omd-electro...

Soundcheck is hosted by John Schaefer.
