K9 officer Bas honored with ceremony after passing due to blood cancer-related health issues
In August, officials with the South Fork police department delivered the news that their K9 officer Bas was returning back to the force after experiencing blood cancer-related health issues. However, just a few months later, they say everything changed.
He was going for his last chemo at which time they did an ultrasound. It was determined through that ultrasound that they found five lesions. They switched him to a different chemo, a more powerful chemo, to try to fight those lesions off. He got one session in and he was due to get another session, November 7th, but didn't quite make it," said South Fork Police Chief and Bas' owner Don Wyar.
