Ben previewing show, reporting from the "Wild Chicago Field Desk", accompanied by stuffed pet animals, followed by opening titles
Segments of this edition are:
"Parrots Plus" (opening music: "Surfin' Bird" by The Trashmen) at 54 North Milwaukee, with proprietress Claudia showing various bird species
"Cat House" - a look inside Animal Adoption Associates, with about 60 cats and eight dogs inside; songs written are performed at the house
"Canine Class" - holistic dog instructor Dennis Damon (sp?) teaches dogs with low self-esteem new tricks, with examples shown such as obstacle courses
"Moo 'n' Oink" at 7158 South Stony Island, definitely not for vegetarians; a beef and pork lover's dream; people in cow and pig suits take Ben through a tour of the establishment, and manager Herbert Lee speaks about the fare sold
"Jungle Club" - a look at a dance club, X-Zot-Iks Jungle Club (Xzotiks), located on West Madison in Forest Park; people dress as animals or primitives and dance to the music
"Pet Cemetery" - a visit to Paw Print Gardens where dead pets are given a decent burial, and has a non-denominational chapel on site; even dead horses have gravesites
"Dumb Question" - viewers on the street asked why the chicken crossed the road
"Pet Motel" - a look inside the American Pet Motel in Prairie View - reservations required, of course; like a regular motel, except the tenants are various dogs and cats; the motel's founder and proprietor speaks of its purpose and operation
"Pet Store" - a visit to Animal Kingdom at 2980 North Milwaukee, with unusual animals (including a Bengal tiger, a vulture, Australian crickets and a Mexican red-leg tarantula) alongside the regular fare of cats, dogs, fish, birds and pet supplies
"Wild Neighbor" - a singing dog, Candy, with bad breath and then some; Ben speaks with the owner, Jon (?) Horoya (?)
Sort-of plug for Farm at the Zoo in Lincoln Park

About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels (or other cities occasionally); footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,700+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:
