Here's the complete, first-run broadcast of the very first episode of the short-lived series Shirley, "Is That What Dad Really Wanted?" (S01E01), as aired over the NBC Network via WMAQ Channel 5.
(That's Shirley, not Laverne)
Shirley Jones (late of The Partridge Family) helmed this hour-long comedy-drama as a widowed mother who moves with her family and housekeeper from New York City to Lake Tahoe. This constituted a "Who's Who" of some future big names, including Rosanna Arquette (paternal granddaughter of Cliff Arquette, a.k.a. "Charley Weaver") before films like "Desperately Seeking Susan" and being immortalized in Toto's "Rosanna," and a pre-Growing Pains Tracey Gold. Also co-starred Patrick Wayne (son of John, "The Duke," who died earlier in the year), Peter Barton, Bret Shryer, John McIntire (formerly of Wagon Train and The Virginian), Ann Doran, and Cynthia (later Cindy) Eilbacher.
In this series premiere, Shirley and her family find out their new home is being fumigated.
