Hi everyone!
I just came back from an amazing trip to Kars, located on the eastern border of Turkey. To my luck, the weather was beautiful and I was able to capture the beauty of Ani Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is located 40 km east of Kars, bordering Armenia.
I will be sharing some of the footage I was able to capture from the area as walkthroughs. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did...
Below I summarized a short introduction to this amazing place that I hope you would visit one day!
"Ani, the capital of the Bagratid Armenian kingdom from 961 to 1045, was a major urban center located in present-day Armenia and eastern Turkey. Dubbed the "City of 1,001 Churches," archaeological findings have uncovered around 50 churches, along with numerous chapels and cave chapels. Key features included the Cathedral of Ani, which showcased early Gothic architectural elements that influenced later European styles. At its zenith, Ani was among the world's largest cities, reputedly housing over 100,000 people. However, its decline was precipitated by a Mongol sack in 1236, a devastating earthquake in 1319, and the shifting of regional trade routes, leading to its abandonment by the 17th century. Today, Ani remains a poignant symbol of Armenian cultural and historical heritage, recognized by its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016."
