A. The status of the rich ruler:
1) He was seeking (but mostly to justify himself)
2) He was trying (but didn’t realize the shortfall)
3) He was failing (but there was a solution)
4) He was lost (but Jesus provided the way)
5) He was loved (but still needed forgiveness)
B. Common errors people commit when considering our relationship to God:
1) Minimize God’s Holiness
2) Maximize our Goodness

A. Anything can steal God’s rightful “first place” but the love of money can be especially destructive. (1 Timothy 6:10)
B. Anyone can feel like they have “sacrificed” exceptionally for God, but you will never out-give God. (James 1:17)
