Natassa Calogirou is jamming on bass clarinet with the "Zoetic Engine" feedback-based generative patch created by Paul Pignon on EMS Synthi100, in January 2022 at CMRC in Athens. Following Paul's "Creatures Talk Global" project, our Synthi100 is communicating in real-time with another two well-maintained EMS Synth100s, at the Radio Belgrade Electronic Studio and at IPEM in Ghent, over the internet (using SonoBus). These were both patched by Paul as "Zoetic Engines", too, with different topologies and characteristics. The live input and the sound of the remote synths feed into the feedback loops in the patch and also modulate the sequencer clock and the filter frequencies. The output of the synth is in turn sent over SonoBus into the two remote synths, completing a loop, with some delay introduced by the connection. This is the first time Natassa is interacting with the synth and everything she plays is improvised on the spot.
