Ovett,Walker,Bayi,Wessinhage,Coghlan,Moorcroft:The Milers Class of 1980
This clip was shown prior to the 1980 Golden Mile,held at Crystal Palace,London. It was certainly an amazing era for the distance ,as ,along with 3 of the four most recent mile world record holders(Walker,Bayi and the current recipient,Ovett,)it also lined up such middle distance legends as Wessinhage,Coghlan,Scott and Moorcroft.Sadly the only man missing was the previous(and future ) WR holder,Seb Coe,who had curtailed his Olympic year the week before with an injury.Yet another one of the many so called Coe/Ovett showdowns never to materialise....
