The Olympic Games officially opens in Paris later on Friday.
But people are being told not to go to train stations.
French rail company S-N-C-F says its network has been the victim of several malicious arson attacks that damaged their facilities.
The statement goes on to say high speed train traffic is very disrupted and a large number of services will have to be cancelled.
France’s high-speed TGV rail network has been hit by “malicious acts”, disrupting some of the nation’s busiest lines on the day of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
“Arson attacks were started to damage our facilities,” said state-owned railway operator SNCF on Friday, stating that the “simultaneous malicious acts” had taken place overnight.
