Abstract: In daily fantasy sports, it may not always be the goal to maximize projected points on average. This paper proposes the use of the robust optimization paradigm to maximize rewards in 50/50 fantasy football competitions where contestants who score enough points receive the same payout. The final robust formulation is as tractable and interpretable as the standard mixed integer linear programming formulation, while outperforming the MILP formulation under some circumstances.
