Fairlight is the DAW (digital audio workstation) in DaVinci Resolve. A DAW is what we use to do sound design on a film.

This is the first of a series of lessons to show you how to use Fairlight to do sound design for your movie. (For all the classes in my sound design course enroll at https://writedirect.co)

As a previous Avid and Pro Tools user, the ability to stay in a single application for picture and sound is simply the coolest thing since file based workflows! I'm not kidding. Until you've messed with going back and forth between your NLE and DAW, you don't know how nice this is.

On my latest film (RECKONING), I could simply hit SHIFT + 4 to hop back to the NLE and make a picture change on the timeline and then SHIFT + 7 to be back in Fairlight, DaVinci Resolve's DAW.

This lesson is our first Fairlight class. It's a basic walk through of the interface before we dive into using the timeline in the next lesson, and then dialogue editing beyond that.
