Song "Looks on Grand Duchess Anastasia" by Anatoly Dneprov. English lyrics.
The prolific Soviet Jewish composer Anatoly Dneprov, wrote his song "Looks on Grand Duchess Anastasia", shortly before his death in 2008. I came upon it by accident, then searched and found the text of very poignant lyrics in their original Russian, and translated them for you.
I present them here in this video, as captions under various photos and film from Anastasia's life, as a tribute to the last book of the OTMA series, based on Anastasia's writings, which about to be released ("Anastasia Romanov: The Tsar's Youngest Daughter Speaks Through Her Writings").

HER EYES REFLECTING LAKES"
Neither shelter, nor fare gives us joy
As eternal judgment comes
Upon ancestral ashes
Our mighty forefathers call us
I did not drink mead
Did not steal beeswax
Did not thieve the boundless land
While they loaded us in one cart
And took us all to an unknown place

And we raced as if from a chase
Who is to blame, no point in searching...
The yoke was weakened, the horses stuck
The pious coachman started drinking...
As if the devil making merry at a wedding
All around are goat tracks,
Silent among the ruins of an estate,
The ponds went blind from grief...
They saw such things,
Despite great secrecy,
Murdered in nearby fields
Were princes, then the peasants

Who is guilty, no point in seeking,
The yoke was weakened,
Horses stuck in mud,
And the pious coachman got drunk
And all this, is my Russia
My greatness and my shame
Looks on Grand Duchess Anastasia

Envisioned a very different Russia
