Exposure Bracketing in Photography - How to Shoot and Merge HDR Images
Exposure bracketing is a common technique used in landscape photography to help capture scenes with very high dynamic range. When you must capture the bright sky in contrast with a dark foreground, bracketing may be the way to go.
Bracketing is simple. You pick the number of images your camera takes and the stops difference (think brighter or darker) between the photos. Then, your camera will fire off multiple photos, changing the shutter speed between images to over or underexpose each photo. Lastly, you can bring these images into most photo editing software and combine them using the HDR (high dynamic range) feature.
Depending on your camera, you may not need this technique. Some of the newer camera sensors can capture very high dynamic range in one shot. This is still a relatively easy technique for older or less expensive cameras to improve the dynamic range in your images!
