Understand that anything in your image that competes with the subject detracts from the image. In this example, the hill to the left makes the mountains look less impressive since the mountains are no longer the tallest objects in the frame.
Always consider excluding everything that doesn't add to the image, and find the best spot to show off the most exciting features in your images!
