What is TTL in Photography?

In photography TTL (Through The Lens) is an automated system in which the camera works with a "Preflash" in order to determine what the correct flash output power from the actual flash bulb should be for any giving shot.

By the end of this video then you should have a better understanding of what TTL is and does. Also you should note that Nikon call it I-TTL and Canon call theirs E-TTL.

In order to use TTL in photography then both your camera, flash, radio triggers etc... should all be TTL compatible.
