Hi my name is Roger Ahuja and I’m going to take a minute and show you how to restore a file that you’ve backed up using Windows 10 File History. So I’m going to go down here and do a search for File History and then go to that. And then once I’m here, I just want to restore personal files. And let’s say I’m looking for a file called testing and I would just type that here and there’s the file that it finds called testing and if I double click on this it’s going to show me the version of it. Because this is a word document it’s actually showing me the content dated February 27th and if I hit the down arrow here, this is the version of it dated March 4th. And I can restore whichever one I want by just hitting this button here and it will restore it to the original location. And it’s going to ask me if I want to replace the file, skip it or compare info. You can also restore to a different location and I’ll get to that in a moment. So similarly I’m going to show you with another document here. Let’s just go back to the beginning and we’re going to do Port. Now this file, there’s no preview available for it. So if I want to actually preview it, I’m going to have to hit open and it’ll open it up in that program and show me that version of the file. As you can see here, there’s a March 2nd version, a march 3rd version as well as a March 3rd at 10:05 version. Because I have my file history set to backup every 10 minutes, if I make a change to the document, 10 minutes later it’ll make another backup of that version of the file and it’ll keep doing that until space is needed because that’s how I have it configured. So, as far as restoring to a different location, all you have to do is once you find the file and you picked your date, you would just click on this gear up here and restore to and I’m just going to restore to my desktop and there’s the file and that’s it.
