In this video, you will be watching WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT MONEY | INTERESTING FACTS. Hello, and welcome to the fact laboratory. Today you will be learning 5 quick facts about money that you may not know. But first please consider subscribing to the channel if you like this kind of content. It would mean a lot to the lab! Now let's get started.
Number five! Money hasn't always been around. Before money existed people would actually use objects to trade and barter instead, like animals, crops, or clothes. So could you imagine going to the store to buy some milk and bread, and the attendant says to you, "ok ma'am that will cost you one chicken in exchange for the milk". Good thing money was invented or we would all be standing in line with our chickens and cows to trade at the grocery store.
Number four! United States paper money is actually not paper at all. It is made from cloth instead. It's strange to think that you are holding something in your hand that feels like paper, looks like paper, and people even widely refer to it as paper, but is fabric instead.
Number three! Money is actually recycled when it gets old. When coins become too old they are melted down and turned into new coins, and when bills become too old they are turned into fertilizer. They used to be burned but it was found to be more useful to turn them into compost instead. So just think about it, that bag of fertilizer you are using to plant your garden, just may have been a bag of one hundred dollar bills not too long ago.
Number two! Before banks were around people would actually keep their money in a variety of different places. Stories range from money being kept in religious temples, to being hidden in caves, to being put into the walls of houses, and even buried in backyards. Could you imagine having to go dig up your down payment for your new house out of the backyard? Actually, who knows then, there might just be some hidden treasure buried in your backyard.
Number one! Money is actually very dirty. Believe it or not, money is one of the filthiest objects around. Research has shown that money harbors tons of germs and bacteria. Just think about all the people that have handled the money, and all the places where the money has been. So next time you pay for your lunch in cash, you might just want to wash your hands before unwrapping and enjoying that finger-licking good meal.
