Full first block of the 4pm newscast on Gray's CBS affiliate in Midland-Odessa, Texas, recorded Monday, August 12, 2024. A couple promos thrown in at the start for good measure.
Monday morning at 5am, the station updated their branding from "CBS7 First Alert News" to "First Alert 7 News". A new logo accompanied the change, which drops the longtime 25-year "CBS7" branding and brushstroke logo (borrowed from former sister station KHQA) in favor of a design adapted from current sister station KMOV.
For the most part, the existing "Honeycomb" Gray graphics were kept. The color palette was changed from blue to red, and the fonts were changed from Gotham to Barlow. The station, for unknown reasons, did not actually adopt GrayONE itself. GrayONE is used for the weather graphics, so their CG equipment may not run GrayONE (this is why WIFR got a GrayONE style logo but not the graphics) and they're not budgeted to replace that at this time.
Max McGill was replaced as voiceover by Glenn Hansen (who was also used by them previously a few years ago). "U-Phonix" from Stephen Arnold Music remains the theme.
Anchored by Mary Kate Hamilton with weather from chief meteorologist Tom Tefertiller.
