Replacing Chrome OS With Elementary OS - Fixing The Kernel
This is another segment that is explains how to setup and install a Linux Distro and completely remove Chrome OS. In this video I will be going over how to install Elementary OS, although you can use other distros as well.
Remember, when you start up your "Chromebook" you will need to press Ctrl L, then Esc and go into the advanced area and select the proper kernal. Another video will show you how to remove the kernal you are not using so you can boot directly into Elementary OS without needing to select the kernal.
Go to Ubuntu’s mainline ppa website here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/...
Select the v3.12.5-trusty folder
Download linux-headers-*_adm64.deb, linux-headers-*_all.deb and the linux-image-*_amd64.deb
Open the terminal and type:
cd ~/Downloads
Then install all the downloaded .deb files by typing:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
Finally restart your computer by typing:
sudo reboot
To ensure you are running the proper kernal type the following into your terminal:
uname -r

These videos will be based on the Intel processor, so for a few Chromebook(ARM) owners your device may not be compatible with every video that is in this series. Although you should be able to do just about 90% of them successfully.
