The benefits of starting bell pepper and tomato seeds in eggshells are many and is a very simple process. Planting the seedlings and shells in the bed provides a calcium boost to the garden soil as they break down and help prevent blossom end rot. Other benefits: egg shells are rich in phosphorus a required nutrient for plant health along with other minerals. When the plants get too big for the shells, just transplant them straight in the soil, shell and all.
