A song from DPRK about vinalon. Vinalon is a synthetic fiber produced from reaction between polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber and formaldehyde. Vinalon was first developed by the chemist Ri Sung Gi (리승기), who moved from Seoul to Pyongyang in 1950. Unlike nylon, which uses oil as the main raw material, vinalon uses locally-mined anthracite and limestone as the main raw materials. Trial production began in 1954 and in 1961 the massive "Vinalon City" was built in Hamhung. Vinalon's widespread usage in the DPRK is often pointed to as an example of the implementation of the Juche philosophy, and it is known as the Juche fiber.
Three Thousand Ri - A reference to the 3000 ri (1200 km) length of Korea. This phrase is no longer used in DPRK as of 2024, notably being edited out of the national anthem.
