I wanted to show off defeating this early game dragon on a level 1 character because pretty much any playthrough would benefit from getting at least one dragon heart so they can unlock the "Rotten Breath" incantation as a reliable way of applying scarlet rot in the early game. Even as a level 1, you can use Rotten Breath if you pick up the "Two Fingers Heirloom" talisman from the Purified Ruins in Liurnia of the Lakes, and the "Marika's Scarseal" talisman from Siofra River next to a sleeping Dragonkin Soldier. Both of these talismans don't require any fighting to pick up, equiping them together gives you the stats to cast the incantation, and you can get them any time starting right at the beginning of the game. You can buy a Finger Seal from the Twin Maiden Husks in the roundtable hold for casting Rotten Breath, and you can unlock the incantation itself from the Cathedral of Dragon Communion in Caelid by spending 1 dragon heart. So this one dragon fight is the hardest thing standing in the way of unlocking the ability to use Scarlet Rot in any savegame.
The loadout I used in this video:
Club with Determination (weapon can be purchased from the nomadic merchant on the beach by the Coastal Cave in Limgrave, ash of war is dropped by a teardrop scarab by the bridge east of Gatefront in Limgrave)
Lantern (purchased from a nomadic merchant on the west coast of the Weeping Peninsula by the Isolated Merchant's Shack site of grace)
Spectral Steed Whistle (automatically acquired the first time speaking with Melina)
In the thumbnail, RL1 means "rune level 1", WL0 means "weapon level 0" or no weapon upgrades, and "hitless" means I didn't get hit :)
