PORTAGE, Pa. -- A Cambria County woman had quite the surprise Thursday afternoon when she found a black bear running through her yard.
Jamie Howard told 6News she noticed something odd about a car that stopped in front of her Portage Borough home around 1 p.m..
"I actually saw somebody parked outside the house, leaning out their car door, taking pictures of something so I went outside on my porch and there was a bear in the yard," Howard said.
Howard and officials with the Pennsylvania Game Commission said the bear was likely looking for food, or a mate.
She said she shot video of the bear and shared it to the WJAC-TV Facebook page. Hours later the bear returned, this time in front of 6News crews.
Since Howard's yard borders several Portage-area businesses and other homes, the game commission set a trap to move the bear.
Howard told 6News she worried the bear would return when her two children or dog would be playing in the yard.
The game commission said if anyone comes in contact with the bear, it recommends yelling loudly in the bear's direction to scare it off.
Officials reported two other bear sightings in Cambria County Thursday
