In this basic Excel tutorial, I'll guide you through the simple process of division. If you're new to Excel, this is a fundamental skill you'll need. While there are various methods to divide numbers in Excel, I'll focus on the most straightforward one for beginners.
Here, I'll give you a no-brainer solution to this problem.
Suppose we have Total Price in Column A and In Column B, we have Units. Now, I want to divide the price by units and display the unit price in column C. Now, based on this scenario and given the condition that we are beginners, here goes the solution:
Write in cell C2, =A2/B2
Now that you've learned Excel's primary method of dividing numbers let's explore a time-saving feature. If you need to split numbers into multiple rows, select the cell where you've written the formula, hover your mouse at the bottom right corner of that cell, and double-click. This will automatically apply the formula to the following cells, providing a complete result for your data table.
