An octal number system is a base 8 number system as it uses 8 digits from 0 to 7.

This video explains the conversion of an octal number to binary and also the conversion of a binary number to octal.

Octal to binary conversion : Replace each octal digit with the corresponding binary equivalent and write all the binary digits together

Binary to Octal : Group the binary number into triplets (3 bits). Replace each group with the corresponding octal digit.

Binary fraction to octal: Group the bits from right to left for integer part and from left to right for fractional part.
