Simply create an email template in Postcards and we will show you how to upload and send Email Newsletter Templates with MailWizz.
► For this video tutorial, it is highly recommended to have a Designmodo account, a set-up MailWizz app and code editor to open HTML files.
Step 1 Gather the tags you want to use. As any email-marketing platform, MailWizz offers a whole bunch of tags that can be used to customize the content of the email newsletter.
They are vital for creating a personalized experience that leads to strong and healthy relationships with the contacts.
We are going to use two email tags: your company’s full address tag and unsubscribe link tag. Why? Because they are required by the system and it is a good practice.
Step 2 Create a Postcards template and export it. First, we need a newsletter template. For that, open the Postcards App.
Create an email newsletter. You can choose whatever modules you like, however, note one thing. Your design should have footer: it is here where the company’s name and an unsubscribe URL are usually featured. Therefore, we will add them there.
After your design is ready, select the footer. Find the “Contact Us” section, in case you have the same layout as we, and replace the default address with the company’s name email tag, aka [COMPANY_FULL_ADDRESS].
Next, find the link to the email address. Change the default text with “Unsubscribe” and URL to [UNSUBSCRIBE_URL].
That is all; your custom email template is pre-packed with MailWizz email tags. Now you can export files and download the zip package.
Step 3 Upload the zip file directly to MailWizz. MailWizz allows you to upload the whole zip package.
Go to the platform and open the tab with a list of MailWizz templates. Here click on the “Upload Template” button.
Your Postcards email template should be successfully imported into the system.
However, if something is wrong, you can add an email template manually to the system. Move to the next steps to see how it is done.
Step 4 Create a MailWizz template using the Postcards template code.
First, create a new template in MailWizz. Click on the “Source” button to open the code editor.
Second, open index.html file in a text editor, for example, Notepad++. Select everything inside and copy that.
Finally, replace the default data in MailWizz editor with copied code from the Postcards template.
Save the progress and preview template in the browser.
You will notice that your email does not have images. Let us fix it.
Step 5 Add the images to the template. Inside the package downloaded from Postcards App, you can find a folder with images. We need to add these images to the platform.
Click the image button in the code editor panel. After that press “Browse Server” and drag all your images at once in the server image folder.
The last step is to adjust links to the images. Find the new URL of the image. Copy the link address. Go to the code editor and manually change the source for every image inside.
After you are done, you can check your email newsletter: it should display all the images. That is all.
