Meet Captain Shaunak Kerkar, a merchant navy officer who faced an unexpected accident when his 5-year-old son accidentally slammed a door on his finger, causing a severe injury. The impact ruptured his nail and lacerated the nail bed. Captain Kerkar immediately rushed to Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai, where Dr. Kushal Shah and Dr. Neelesh Sathbhai attended.
He underwent a 30-minute outpatient surgery, receiving six stitches, and his hand was carefully bandaged. As he had a solo flight to Australia ahead, the doctors ensured he was fit to travel, providing proper dressing, painkillers, and a self-care routine for managing the injury during his journey. They also taught him how to dress the wound, offering prompt remote assistance whenever he had questions.
After three weeks, Captain Kerkar’s wound fully healed, thanks to his doctors' continuous support and guidance, even while he was travelling abroad.
