Become the Greatest You - You Can Become: Parshat Korach - Korach's fault of wanting to be Moshe
Korach felt jealousy against his cousin Moshe (Moses) who had been given the right to lead the entire Jewish nation. Moshe's brother Aharon was also given a great position of authority in that he would become the father of the Kohanim who would be responsible for the most important parts of service in the Beit HaMikdash (Temple).
Korach had false delusions of grandeur. He misplaced his understanding of his role in the world. He lacked the sensitivity to understand the different roles each of us contribute in the world and how each of us plays such an important role in life in any case. Even Korach had an important role to play in life. It's just that he couldn't see it. He imagined the leadership role was his. But it wouldn't have made him any less of a person had he just accepted his own role. He would have been great -- just as he was!
Too bad for his mocking Moshe, as his behaviour would result in his being swallowed up by the earth together with 250 of some of the greatest leaders at that time too.
The story of Korach teaches us a valuable lesson in life on the importance of seeing how great each of us is regardless of the roles other play in life. What counts most in life, is for us to see our own importance and to become the greatest we can become as we are best suited to becoming.
